NEFCC’s Ladies Angling project wins National Lottery funding

The North East Fly Casting Club is celebrating after being awarded £9,984 of National Lottery funding from Sport England to increase the number of females taking part in angling.

This grant will enable the club to offer a range of activities and programmes aimed at attracting more females into the sport. This will include recruiting and training more female coaches, an open day on the banks of the River Tyne at Corbridge on Saturday 16th May followed by coaching courses, guided fishing days and more opportunities for females to get out there and give angling a go. 

In a bid to make angling more accessible and affordable the club have also been able to purchase additional angling equipment which will be made available to anyone involved with the project.   For further details about the project and the upcoming launch day please visit the clubs’ website or email to register your interest in taking part.

“We are delighted and grateful to have been awarded this grant which will enable the club to provide extended opportunities for ladies and girls in particular to be introduced to and become involved in the Sport we enjoy so much. Fly fishing is an exciting sport that has the potential to bring people together and promotes healthy lifestyles.”

    Congratulations for your successful funding bid to support women interested in fly fishing. After the activities there will be opportunities for women members of NEFCC to offer further support and friendship on local river and pools.
